Dr. Blakey grew up just outside of Boston, Ma., one of 12 children. After graduating with honors from Harvard College, he attended the University of Vermont College of Medicine where he received his medical degree in 1977.He completed his residency training in Pediatrics at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond and began private practice in 1980. He is board certified in Pediatrics and is a fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Blakey has been practicing pediatrics since 1980 in Midlothian, Bon Air, Richmond, and most recently in Powhatan, Va. He has supported the growth and development of now 2 generations of children, from newborns to college and even as new parents. He has used his interest in nutrition, exercise and his love of nature and the out of doors to help families navigate the sometimes turbulent waters of both routine and complex pediatric issues. He has a special interest in an integrative approach to  the physical and mental health of children. His practice encompasses health promotion through exercise, nutrition, and mindfulness.

In addition to his interest in asthma and sports medicine, Dr. Blakey shares a special interest in managing ADHD, anxiety and depression at Complete Care For Kids with his partner and wife Dr. Sylvia Lee.

Dr Blakey has 3 grown boys who grew up in Virginia and 7 grandchildren living in Florida, Colorado, and California. 

Dr Blakey enjoys mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, and just experiencing the awe of nature.
